"Do you like a family doctor?" my sister asked me a few weeks ago. "Would you like to recommend it?"
"I totally loved my doctor – great!" I responded immediately, then began a long, acclaimed account as if I were the head of my doctor's publicity. During my monologue, I used words like "smart," "logical," "silent," and "respectable." Then I realized I did not say the words "trained" or "well-trained" – even once.
Talking to my sister I was thinking about the factors and characteristics that determine the great doctors except the good ones. Web sites are rated and ranked by doctors massively on the internet. In these lists, medical professionals will receive the title "Top Docs" based on surveys commissioned by doctors. Therefore, questions were asked about the panel of six doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals. I asked: What are you looking for when you think you are a doctor to supervise the care of our own family? What do you think do the best doctors have?
A GOOD LIVING: EDUCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING
By choosing a doctor who is a member of the Twenty-Four American Medical Experts Board (ABMS), you can feel comfortable meeting the nationally recognized standards of education, knowledge, experience and skills to provide high quality care in a particular medical specialty. The ID card goes beyond and beyond the basic medical care. Determining whether a particular physician is Board Certified is fast, free, and simple. Simply visit ABMS's website, register and connect your doctor's name and city.
Mike Lipscomb MD, Emergency Room Physician at North Fulton Hospital, Roswell, Georgia, and MD Apollo MD believes that doctors at the top of the field have solid training and training bases that rely on medical practice. But Lipscomb also suggests a warning.
"I would not put much emphasis on large-scale schools," she says.
Explains that educational costs in these elite schools each year exceed $ 50,000 unrealistic opportunities for many medical students.
"Less than a third of many public schools," he continues. "High prices are incompatible with better education, and some of the best doctors have gone to public schools and have chosen as little debt as possible."
"And I do not earn much money in research," says Lipscomb. "Good work in the lab is not necessarily related to being clinically competent."
"If I seek my doctor for myself or my family, there is minimal and doctors experience as a second layer depending on the nature of the care required," said Adedapo Odetoyinbo, MD, SFHM, medical chief medical officer and hospital medical director at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Georgia. "Experience is a key factor in the need for technical or rapid decision-making in an emergency. It is more important to me than research, the ability of a doctor to make research results and evidence-based everyday practice." Odetoyinbo refers to the physician's practical ability to decipher a puzzle – choose the knowledge of his or her teaching and experiences and correctly apply them to the situation at hand. The pursuit of a doctor to preserve and restore the well-being of a patient's knowledge enhances reasoning and rational decision-making and experts agree that some physicians are simply better than others than they know they are using what they know.
Many of the experts interviewed remarked that one of the best among the best is a toolbox that is packed with excellent soft skills – the personal qualities and attributes that enhance the interaction between the individual and performance
. good doctors from the best doctors, their ability to listen to patients – actually listen and respond to what they say, says Cindy Hardy, a medical expert at North Fulton Hospital who has worked as a nurse for years. 19659002] Notes that master doctors allow patients to set the pace in the first few minutes of interaction while listening to and collecting valuable information. Only in response
A study published in 2005 by the American Osteopathy Association (Travaline, Ruchinskas and D & amp; Alonzo) found that in many cases effective patient-doctor communication can improve the health of the patient as many drugs as possible. Patients who understand doctors are more likely to recognize health problems, understand their treatment options, change their behavior and follow their medication.
"And the big ones are communicating with the patient and the family," Hardy said. "The big ones are listening to the inputs and talking at a level that ensures that everyone in the room understands what's going to happen, which is especially important if a doctor, a patient, and a patient's family take care of a care plan."
Dr. Robert Campbell, head of the Atlanta Children's Health Service at Atlanta Sibley, adds that the great doctors usually surround themselves with colleagues who are committed to listening.
"Good communication helps our team culture," says Campbell. "In view of the high volume, high patient vision and high patient performance – both inpatients and outpatients – it is clear that no service provider can operate alone, so it is important to work as a cohesion team and this requires excellent communication to coordinate our efforts
The best doctor is not only maintaining technical competence but also cultivating and practicing humanistic qualities – kindness, warmth and compassion – when the patient needs it.
credentials are a given one, "says Debbie Keel , Chief Executive Officer of North Fulton Hospital. "But if the patient does not feel good or is afraid or they face long, expensive care and express their concerns about the costs, they need sympathy and the best doctors have a compassionate presence on them." Keel, a mother and grandmother, encourages her colleagues to look at patients in other light. "I say," This is your mother in that bed, "he added." The highest doctors treat their patients with the same compassion as with their own family members. "
However, showing pity is even more difficult today, as doctors are thin and love more
"We can not create more hours during the day," he says. "It's hard to show their caring sensitive side when there is only a few minutes to the patient, but the most respected doctors do it."
THE LARGEST PRESENTATION OF THE LARGEST ETHICAL STANDARDS
All doctors agree to promote and encourage the highest level of medical ethics, a system of moral principles that apply values and judgments to the practice of medicine, but most health professionals say ethics go far beyond the Ethics Include How They Work When No One Looks And Hogs yan treats others. "When I interview with doctors who join us, I'll tell them they will not survive if they are lazy or unethical," says Steve Waronker, MD. , President of the Anesthesiology Department at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. "I will also tell them that if they can not live in the Golden Rule and do not deal with environmental officers, they also deal with the CEO, they do not have to apply them."
Really many doctors – especially the really great – Hippocratic oath as a sacred covenant. By writing, doctors swear by honestly practicing physicians, avoiding irregularities or corruption, handling conversations confidentially, among many other rules of moral behavior. This is the guideline for ethical behavior.
Other attributes of good doctors are really great: intuitive perception – sixth sense, accessibility, common sense, bedding, and doctor's willingness to be a team player. But maybe the doctor's ability to be multifaceted and multidimensional that shines even more than others
"Compassion, common sense, the body of great knowledge and humility are called for help when things are complex and confused," Waronker says. "Ultimately, the best doctors will do it all."
